A Project to Watch

Congratulations to our friends at Rabbiteer, LLC for their successful launch of Dungeon Derby on Kickstarter!

Dungeon Derby is an easy-to-learn, push-your-luck racing game where players represent clans whose “Champion” is racing through a dungeon. The game sports a great mix of strategy and luck as cards are played to help or harm racers and spells are cast to change the flow of each race. In the end everyone leaves the races as winners, but only the player with the most wealth can claim he has mastered the dungeon!

Sound like your kind of fun? Check it out on Kickstarter.

Sneak Peek At The New Tray
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Jul 05, 2018 at 01:11:37 AM

Hello Backers!

One of the commitments we made to you at the start of this project was that we would redesign the game tray that comes with the larger box. Why? Well, although the original Kickstarter edition game tray did a great job of holding everything, and even had extra slots for future expansions, it didn’t have enough space to hold a full game plus expansion if you put your cards in sleeves.

We knew that many of our backers like to use sleeves, so we put our thinking caps on and got to work on a new tray design. It turned out to be a challenge, since the full game comes with 365 cards and they take up a lot of space when sleeved. At the same time, we didn’t want unsleeved cards to be too loose in the slots either! But after a lot of measurement and design work, some discussion with the factory, and several prototypes, we came up with a tray that we think is perfect. And today, we’re excited to share it with you!

The New Tray

So what's new in this tray? Well, we added a new vertical card slot in the middle to hold the Boss Cards and Artifacts, and we reduced the number of horizontal card slots from 10 down to 8 so we could make each of them bigger. We also made the card slots a little deeper to secure the cards better, and wider so they could accommodate sleeves.

Here’s a photo of a complete set of unsleeved cards arranged in the tray:

If you decide to sleeve your cards, you'll need to store some of your Door Cards in with your Challenge Cards, but otherwise the layout is the same. Here’s what a sleeved set would look like (Player Mats left out to show Boss Mats underneath):

Finished Art, Surveys Coming Next Week
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Jun 16, 2018 at 01:10:44 AM

Well, it’s been almost two weeks since the Kickstarter concluded, and we’ve been hard at work getting everything ready to send off to the factory for printing. As part of that process, Alex has finished the art on all of the cards you voted on, and they look great!

We also have an exciting announcement to make. You may recall that we had an art vote between an army of kittens and a magical dog called Tinkles. The kittens won that vote, but afterwards, a small but vocal group began a rigorous campaign under the hashtag #SaveTinkles.

Well, we heard you, and we happen to agree that Tinkles is just too cute to leave out the game. So now it’s time to join us in christening a NEW hashtag! A hashtag not of yearning or of despair, but one of victory... of vindication... and of JOY! Shout it from the rooftops, backers! Our new rallying cry is here:

#TinklesIsIn!

And here she is, with her completed art and her new title (as suggested by Keenan W):

Thanks again to all of you for all your support and feedback. We love all the suggestions you’ve made for these new cards, and we can’t wait to play with them in the final, printed game!

Surveys Coming Next Week

And speaking of final, printed games, the next step is to complete the BackerKit surveys that you’ll use to give us your address and other order information!

The plan is to send out the surveys early next week. A small number of you will get your surveys on Monday (as a way of stress-testing the system), then we will send out the rest on Tuesday if all goes well with the test.
